Leidsche Rhijn is a newly built area on the West side (on the other side of the highway) of Utrecht. The name comes from the river Leidsche Rijn, which runs through the south of the area. Leidsche Rijn ia since 2006, the largest Newly-built and Vinex area of the Netherlands. The total development also includes parts of the new district Vleuten-De Meern. The entire project, including new locations within the district covers Vleuten-De Meern, has an area of 2500 hectares ± (5 x 5 km).
